Palai Local-level Government

The administrative headquarters of Palai Local-level Government is at Wara Palpal along the inland Sepik Highway, north-east, 40km from Nuku district headquarters.

Under the Kina + Kina facility, the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), in partnership with the Nuku District Development Authority co-funded a refurbished building serving as an administrative hub for the Palai LLG to conduct government business to administer the 18 Wards in the area.

The people of Palai speak 25 local dialects and subsist on sago starch as the main staple food supplemented with root crops and bananas.
